The third episode of “Alien: Earth” delves into the chaos left by the crash-landed alien specimens. Human-synthetic hybrids like Smee and Slightly, who were left to guard a cache of Alien eggs, are tasked with securing the creatures for the genius inventor Boy Kavalier’s company, Prodigy.
Morrow, the cyborg science officer, struggles with his mission to preserve the hostile alien life forms, as he may be under Weyland-Yutani Corporation’s control. His feelings of guilt and compulsion weigh heavily on him, and he tries to explain his plight to Slightly and Smee. However, when one of the Alien eggs begins to hatch, Morrow makes a leap into action.
Kirsh, the hybrids’ synthetic guardian, takes charge and secures the specimens with the help of Smee and Tootles. Curly, who believes she can change the world, is delighted by Boy Genius Kavalier’s ambition, but her darker motivations are revealed. Meanwhile, Wendy, a human-synthetic hybrid, begins to exhibit unique traits after being exposed to the Alien eggs.
The episode focuses on the aftermath of the crash, exploring how contact with the creatures affects each character. Smee and Slightly cling to their childhood, while Nibs is traumatized. Curly is inspired, and Wendy appears poised to become a bridge between human and Alien consciousness. Through these characters, “Alien: Earth” masterfully crafts its monsters, making them matter by making the people matter too.
