‘I Shot Him’: Actor Jonathan Joss Killed in Homophobic Hate Crime

Jonathan Joss, the voice actor best known for his role as John Redcorn on the animated series King of the Hill, was fatally shot by Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja in San Antonio, Texas. Ceja has been charged with felony first-degree murder and confessed to the crime.

According to a police report, Ceja pulled up behind Joss’ car as he stopped to pick up mail from his former home on Sunday. The two got into an argument, during which Ceja warned that he had a gun. An unidentified witness who was traveling with Joss witnessed the argument and heard Ceja say he had a gun before shooting Joss.

Ceja’s rifle was confiscated by police, and he is being held without incident while awaiting his next court appearance in August. Joss’ husband released a statement claiming that the actor was killed in a homophobic hate crime after years of threats and an arson attack on their home.

The police investigation has found no evidence to support this claim, stating that they will charge Ceja accordingly if new evidence arises. The incident has sparked an outpouring of support for Joss and his husband from fans and fellow actors.

Joss had recently started recording bits for King of the Hill’s reboot, which is set to premiere on Hulu in August.
