IBM Pledges $150 Billion to US Over 5 Years for Quantum Computing Push

IBM is investing $150 billion in the United States over the next five years, with a significant portion allocated to expanding its quantum computer production. The move aims to aid the Trump administration’s push for local manufacturing. This investment follows similar pledges from tech giants Nvidia and Apple, both of which have committed to spending around $500 billion each in the country. Analysts believe this is an attempt by IBM to curry favor with President Donald Trump, who has threatened tariffs that could disrupt supply chains and increase costs for the technology industry. The company plans to use $30 billion of its investment to boost US manufacturing of quantum computers and mainframes.
