ICE Agents Harass, Intimidate Protesters at Home in Minnesota

Protesters in Minneapolis and St. Paul claim that immigration agents have been monitoring their movements, gathering their home addresses, and intimidating them at their homes. Nearly 100 sworn statements filed in federal court describe a pattern of police power projection, where protesters were threatened with dire consequences after trailing agents.

On January 26, Emily Beltz said she was followed by an SUV driven by immigration agents, who sped towards her car and pepper-sprayed it before yelling “We’re going to take you home.” The agents had allegedly obtained her address through a license plate number. The statements also mention the fatal shooting of two protesters and how agents referred to these incidents while interacting with protesters.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed updated complaints in a civil case against the Trump administration, seeking to protect protesters’ rights. Administration officials claim that protesters are “seditious” and endangering law enforcement agents’ lives. However, the cases paint a picture of federal agents deploying aggressive tactics against protesters monitoring their movements.
