US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were spotted near Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park on Thursday morning, prompting a reaction from local officials and protesters. The agents, who wore tactical gear with covered faces, gathered near the stadium’s Gate E entrance before heading out to various locations.
Los Angeles City Council District 1 workers alerted the LAPD, which then notified the Dodgers organization, preventing ICE agents from accessing the parking lots. The team denied entry, allowing tonight’s game to proceed as scheduled.
The Department of Homeland Security later stated that the incident was unrelated to the stadium and had “nothing to do with the Dodgers.” CBP vehicles briefly entered the parking lot but claimed their presence was “unrelated to any operation or enforcement.”
Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez expressed frustration over the agents’ lingering presence, urging them to leave private property. The scene attracted several dozen protesters, who were kept at bay by LAPD officers.
The Dodgers announced plans to assist L.A.’s immigrant communities, with a news release scheduled for Thursday. In response to criticism for not commenting on federal immigration actions, infielder Kiké Hernandez expressed his outrage and support for human rights.
As the situation unfolded, local officials worked to resolve the issue, while protesters maintained their peaceful stance until around 1:30 p.m., when LAPD and protesters had cleared the area.
