Bruce Glover, a veteran actor who appeared in films like Diamonds Are Forever and Chinatown, has died at the age of 92. His son Crispin Glover announced his passing on Instagram, sharing old and newer photos of the late actor.
Born in Depression-era Chicago, Glover began his career in performance while attending school. He initially pursued art or football before being asked to wear a heavy gorilla suit for a fellow student’s stripping act, which led him into acting. His time in the US Army during the Korean War delayed his entry into theater productions.
Glover’s Broadway debut came in the 1960s, opposite Bette Davis and Anne Bancroft. He later transitioned to television and film, landing roles in notable shows such as Perry Mason, Mission: Impossible, and The Streets of San Francisco.
On the big screen, Glover played villainous Mr. Wint in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and appeared alongside Jack Nicholson in Chinatown. His collaborations included indie dramas with his wife Betty and son Crispin, including 2007’s It Is Fine! Everything Is Fine.
Glover is remembered for his wit and humor, as expressed through quotes such as “If God had meant man to fly, Mr. Wint… He would’ve given him wings, Mr. Kidd.” His son Crispin paid tribute to the late actor, recalling their introductions in Hollywood and sharing fond memories of his father’s anecdotes.
