id Software Announces Heretic + Hexen Re-Release and DOOM Updates

id Software has kicked off QuakeCon 2025 with a bang, unveiling exciting updates for its iconic titles. The biggest news is the re-release of the classic FPS franchises Heretic and Hexen on modern platforms.

Heretic + Hexen Returns
The original games that revolutionized the FPS genre are back, now with enhanced features such as local and online cross-platform multiplayer, community mod support, and new episode expansions. Players can now enjoy these iconic shooters on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Steam, and other platforms.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Gets Updates
DOOM: The Dark Ages has received its second major update, introducing a new Ripatorium mode where players face waves of demons in a high-intensity arena. The update also includes combat enhancements, bug fixes, and other improvements. Players can now unlock the Perfection Slayer skin by completing this mode.

DOOM Eternal is now accessible to play over 650 community-created mods for free on PC. A new launcher has been introduced, allowing players to easily browse, download, and boot up hundreds of mods created by the DOOM community.
