IDF Lt.-Col. A’s battalion was part of a brigade-level operation that targeted Hamas bank branches in Ramallah, resulting in the seizure of terror funds and equipment. The operation involved multiple battalions working together to achieve surprise and catch Hamas officials off guard.
The IDF’s 668th Ram Battalion commander said his forces were prepared for months, rehearsing the operation several days before carrying it out. Undercover Duvdevan special units entered the bank first, followed by other military battalions. The Israeli security agencies also played a role in the operation, with Shin Bet specialists providing intelligence and counterterrorism support.
Despite public disorder and resistance outside the bank, the IDF maintained control and addressed protests with non-lethal measures such as tear gas. However, several civilians were allegedly wounded by the tear gas, which is now under investigation.
Lt.-Col. A praised his soldiers for their cooperation and performance during the complex operation. The timing of the operation was reportedly related to sufficient intelligence gathering, although the IDF’s top defense officials have not publicly disclosed further information on this matter.
The seizure of Hamas terror funds in Ramallah marks a significant step forward in the Israeli efforts to combat terrorism in the West Bank.
