Igloo is recalling over 1 million coolers sold across the US, Mexico, and Canada due to a handle hazard that has caused fingertip injuries, including some amputations. The “Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers” have a tow handle that can pinch users’ fingertips against the product.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there have been 12 reported injury cases in the US, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. The affected coolers were sold at major retailers like Costco, Target, and Amazon between 2019 and January 2025 for between $80 and $140.
Consumers with the recalled coolers are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle. The recall affects products manufactured in the US prior to January 2024, which can be identified by model number and description. Consumers can register online or call 888-943-5182 to request a handle replacement.
Igloo stated that safety is its top priority and has taken steps to improve product safety through rigorous testing. Additional information on the recall can be found on the CPSC, Health Canada, and OECD websites.
