Illinois dominated No. 15 Michigan 93-73 on Sunday, extending its winning streak over the Wolverines to nine games. Tre White led the charge with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Kasparas Jakucionis added 17 points.
The Illini struggled to score from the field but made up for it on the glass, grabbing 19 offensive rebounds that led to 30 second-chance points. This was a key factor in the team’s victory, as they outscored Michigan 8-0 over the final three minutes of the game.
Vladislav Golden scored 22 points for Michigan, but the Wolverines were unable to recover from an early deficit. Illinois took control with a 31-point lead in the second half and never looked back.
The win marks a milestone for the Illini, who have now beaten Michigan nine straight times. The team will look to keep its winning streak alive next Friday when Purdue comes to Champaign.
