Indian stocks fell on Monday after a decline in the metals, capital goods, and real estate sectors. The Nifty 50 index dropped 0.64%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.63%. However, some stocks managed to rise, with Adani Enterprises Ltd surging 7.57% and HCL Technologies Ltd adding 1.95%.
The worst performers in the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd and Bharat Electronics Ltd, which fell 2.64% and 2.45%, respectively. On the other hand, Tata Motors Ltd was down 1.94%, while JSW Steel Ltd lost 1.65%.
Commodity prices also saw a decline, with gold futures falling 0.26% to $2,625.09 per troy ounce. Crude oil for February delivery fell 0.21% to $70.45 per barrel.
The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar, rising 0.15% to 85.52, while the euro remained stable at 89.26.
