India’s Budget 2025-26 Focuses on Middle Class Growth

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has expressed satisfaction over the Union Budget 2025-26, stating that it reflects the government’s commitment to improving the lives and finances of India’s middle class. The budget aims to boost consumption and investments across all segments of the economy.

According to Mr Mehta, significant amendments made to income tax rates reflect the government’s strong commitment to supporting the rapidly expanding middle class. The Prime Minister described the Budget as a force multiplier that will encourage job creation and propel the country’s growth trajectory.

The budget proposals focus on spurring investments in new-age sectors like electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and life-saving research and development, while also promoting traditional sectors such as shipbuilding and hospitality. Measures to develop civil nuclear energy ensure the country’s energy security.

Mr Mehta also commended the ‘Funds of Funds for Startups’ initiative with a contribution of Rs 10,000 crore from the Centre and enhanced support for MSMEs. He believes this demonstrates a well-considered approach to developing all sectors of the economy.

The budget is seen as a significant step towards India’s goal of becoming a manufacturing superpower and a responsible global economic superpower.
