Infiniti has unveiled two concepts for its flagship QX80 full-size luxury SUV, the QX80 Track Spec and QX80 Terrain Spec. These concepts showcase the brand’s efforts to revamp its image and appeal to a wider audience.
The QX80 Track Spec is designed as an ultimate street performance SUV, boasting unique rocker panels, a front splitter, and enlarged Brembo brakes. Under the hood, it features a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine producing over 650 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful Infiniti models yet.
On the other end of the spectrum is the QX80 Terrain Spec, geared towards off-road enthusiasts who want to leave the beaten path. This SUV features a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and protective covers over the lower front and rear fascias. It also boasts a rooftop-mounted lightbar and pop-up tend for added illumination.
Infiniti’s design team has expressed their desire to unleash the full expressive power of their brand with these concepts, inspired by the diverse landscapes surrounding their Southern California studio. The two concepts embody Infiniti’s new “fast-to-market mindset,” aiming to understand what resonates with customers as they strive to accelerate their push into the premium SUV space.
These concepts come at a time when Infiniti is facing financial woes due to parent Nissan’s restructuring efforts. However, with these bold moves, the brand is hoping to revitalize its image and attract new customers.
