‘Inside the NBA’ Era Ends on TNT After 39 Years

The popular sports show “Inside the NBA” on TNT has come to an end after nearly four decades. The final broadcast marked a new era for the NBA, with games set to air on ESPN and ABC next season as part of a new $76 billion television package.

Ernie Johnson led the farewell ceremony, saying he was proud to have said goodbye to “Thanks for watching us. It’s the NBA on TNT.” The show will continue with Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley on ESPN and ABC, broadcasting most shows from Atlanta.

NBA Commissioner Adam (implied) stated that the new deal brings back NBC and starts a new relationship with Amazon Prime Video. Indiana coach Rick Carlisle praised TNT for its role in his team’s success, saying “Congratulations to TNT on a fabulous run.”

The show’s tributes included past and current broadcasters and analysts, such as Doug Collins and Reggie Miller. Harlan expressed gratitude to the viewers, while Smith and Barkley paid tribute to their time at TNT.

Johnson noted that many members of the production crew have secured jobs with NBC and Amazon due to their exemplary work. The crew said goodbye to “Inside the NBA,” marking an end to an era in the league’s broadcasting history.
