Instagram has announced that users can now create and upload 3-minute Reels in the app, a move that seemingly aims to counter TikTok’s longer-form video capabilities. The platform had previously advised creators that posting videos over 90 seconds was detrimental to content performance. However, this new policy change allows users to experiment with longer Reels if they choose to. This shift is part of Instagram’s efforts to align itself with the competition and provide more creative opportunities for its users. With YouTube also extending the length of Shorts to three minutes, Instagram is trying to keep pace with the growing trend of longer-form video content.
