Instagram is launching several new features to make it easier for users to connect with their friends on the platform. The updates include Reposts, a feature that allows users to share public Reels and posts with their friends; a map that shows users’ last active locations and location-based content; and a “Friends” tab in Reels where users can see public content their friends have interacted with.
Reposts allow users to repost public Reels and feed posts, making it easy for them to share their interests with their friends. The feature is recommended to friends’ feeds and also appears on the user’s profile. Reposts are credited to the original poster, giving creators an opportunity to reach more people.
The map allows users to opt-in to sharing their last active location with friends they choose, and offers customization options such as choosing who can see their location, specific places or people. Users can also use the map to explore location-based content from friends and favorite creators.
The new “Friends” tab in Reels provides a space for users to discover what their closest friends are creating and engaging with. The feature is part of Instagram’s efforts to make it easier for users to stay connected with each other on the platform.
