Intel Arc Battlemage GPU Launch Leaks Reveals Surprising Scores

The highly anticipated Intel Arc Battlemage GPU is set for a launch soon, but early signs aren’t overly positive. A leaked benchmark on Geekbench shows that one of the new Battlemage GPUs achieves an OpenCL benchmark score of 78,743, lagging behind the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 (101,783) and AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (similar scores). The mystery GPU is likely an entry-level variant, which could explain its underwhelming performance.

The leak also reveals specs for a potential Intel Arc B580 GPU. If true, it will replace the A580, featuring improved clock speeds and VRAM. The leaked specs show 2,850MHz and 11.6GB (effectively 12GB) of memory, which could indicate significant upgrades over its predecessor.

While this leak is concerning, it’s essential to note that driver support for early GPUs can be unoptimized. The performance may improve as drivers mature. The leaked B580 GPU scores 89,699 in Geekbench 6, showcasing just how far off the pace this early benchmark is from the final product.

Intel’s new GPUs are expected to launch before the end of the year, followed closely by the AMD Radeon 8000 series and Nvidia RTX 5000 series at CES 2025.
