Apple is set to release iOS 18.2, a software update that includes several new features such as AI-generated emojis, integration with ChatGPT, and other regular updates.
The public beta of iOS 18.2 has been available since early November, while developers have had access to the update since late October. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to release a final beta version on December 3, which will likely be the official launch date. However, it’s also possible that the update could arrive earlier, on December 9 or 10.
Some of the new features in iOS 18.2 include AI-generated emojis and cartoonish pictures, as well as a new Playground app for image generation. Users will need to sign up for a waiting list to access these tools.
Another notable feature is the integration of ChatGPT with Siri, allowing users to ask questions directly to OpenAI’s large language model. This means that users can type to Siri by double tapping the bottom of the iPhone screen.
iPhone 16 owners will also benefit from Visual Intelligence, which uses augmented reality to provide more information about places and things when viewed through the camera. The update also includes regular updates such as a redesigned Mail app with categorization, improved Find My, and projector support in tvOS.
Overall, iOS 18.2 promises to bring more fun and functionality to Apple devices, although some of its features are still exclusive to those who sign up for a waiting list or integrate ChatGPT into their iPhone.
