iOS 18.4 Adds Third Row of CarPlay Icons for Larger Screens

Apple has released the first beta of iOS 18.4, and among the changes is a useful enhancement for CarPlay. The feature allows vehicles with larger center displays to show three rows of icons instead of two, which can make it easier for drivers to access more apps.

The change is only visible in vehicles equipped with screens that meet certain size requirements, such as the Toyota Tundra’s 14-inch display. However, users may notice that older cars with smaller screens still use only two rows of icons.

This update could be a minor but welcome improvement for Apple’s CarPlay system, allowing drivers to quickly access more apps without having to navigate between pages. The iOS 18.4 beta is expected to be released to the public in early April.
