Apple has released iOS 18.4 with a long list of security fixes and bug patches, including the identification and resolution of 62 critical vulnerabilities that were previously unpatched. The latest update addresses several flaws in WebKit, Kernel, and Core Media frameworks, among other areas.
The new release comes just under a month after Apple’s emergency iPhone update 18.3.2, which fixed an existing flaw being used in real-life attacks. Experts say the large number of security patches makes it essential for users to update their devices as soon as possible.
According to Adam Boynton, senior security strategy manager at Jamf, several vulnerabilities patched in iOS 18.4 were targeted by attackers because they exploit the WebKit framework, which downloads and presents web-based content. By updating to iOS 18.4, Apple aims to prevent malicious apps from accessing device data, as well as potential remote denial of service attacks.
The update also includes fixes for a number of annoying iPhone bugs, including issues with Apple Intelligence, scrolling through notifications, and Siri suggestions in non-English languages.
Experts advise users to download and install iOS 18.4 immediately to ensure their devices remain protected against known threats.
