Apple has been working on a new feature that will show users how long it will take to charge their iPhone, and it’s finally starting to come together. The feature, which is part of the upcoming iOS 18.2 update, uses a framework called “BatteryIntelligence” to calculate an estimated time to recharge based on the amount of energy being received by the device.
This new feature isn’t yet enabled in the latest beta version, but was spotted in the code by 9to5Mac. When it’s finally released, users will have the option to receive notifications with estimates of how long it’ll take for their charge to reach certain percentages, such as 80% or 95%.
Apple has already added several new features related to battery health with iOS 18, including the ability to limit the iPhone’s maximum charge to different levels and show when charging times are slow.
Other notable updates in iOS 18.2 include new features for Apple Intelligence, Genmoji, Image Playgrounds, and ChatGPT integration, as well as improvements to Camera Control on iPhone 16 models and Mac Virtual Display.
