iOS 19 Design Changes Revealed: Glass-Like UI and Rounder Icons

Front Page Tech’s Jon Prosser has provided a closer look at alleged design changes for iOS 19. According to Prosser, iOS 19 will have a more glass-like design inspired by visionOS, with added translucency on user interface elements like buttons, menus, and notifications.

The new design features rounder app icons that are hidden by default but appear when long pressing on the icon. The icons switch between squircle and round designs following a brief animation. This change may be intended to avoid drawing attention until iOS 19 is officially announced at WWDC in June.

Other notable changes include a pill-shaped tab bar, elongated search bars, and more rounded corners for elements like Haptic Touch menus and Control Center sliders. Permission prompts for camera and microphone access have also been updated.

Additionally, iOS 19 adds subtle lighting effects to some elements, contributing to its glass-like appearance. For example, the default Flashlight and Camera controls on the Lock Screen shimmer as you move the iPhone.

The first iOS 19 beta is expected to be available immediately after WWDC, with a full release in September.
