I’ve been using the iPhone 16 Pro as my primary device for almost a year now, and I can confidently say it’s become my go-to phone for everything from banking to photography. The phone has held up flawlessly with just a super slim case, and I’ve added a Spigen Glas.tR EZ-FIT screen protector that’s still going strong.
My usage is fairly typical: social media, messaging, calls, and plenty of photo and video capturing. I shoot most videos in 4K60 for the smooth, high-quality look and the ability to slow down the footage later on. While 256GB is the minimum amount of storage I need, I’m enjoying the extra space on the 512GB model.
Performance has remained snappy, and the loudspeaker continues to impress – I often use it to listen to music without headphones. However, one thing that still frustrates me is the slow charging speeds. Despite getting around 5-6 hours of screen time, I find myself needing to charge my phone every day.
The camera app is low-key brilliant, with precise zooming controls and a seamless interface. The 5X zoom distance has been surprisingly useful for recording videos, especially when shooting on stage. However, I wish Apple would consider adding a 3.5X zoom lens that strikes the perfect balance between practicality and quality.
One area where Apple has improved is battery life, but slow charging speeds still leave me wanting. The MagSafe feature remains incredibly useful with its many accessories, including car mounts and tripods. Continuity Camera is also a game-changer for video calls at work.
While I do miss some features like AI photo editing and video summarization, I’m not missing them enough to be disappointed. My main use of AI is still chatting with chatbots, which are available on the iPhone.
Looking ahead to the iPhone 17 Pro, I have a few wishes:
– Silicon-carbon battery technology for a bigger battery in a lighter phone
– A 3X or 3.5X zoom lens that balances practicality and quality
– A thoughtful implementation of AI
– 12GB of RAM
– Cheaper storage upgrades
Despite some minor complaints, I’m extremely happy with my time using the iPhone 16 Pro.
