Apple has released its latest budget-friendly phone, the iPhone 16E, which boasts several upgrades over its predecessor, the 2022 iPhone SE. The new device comes with a higher price tag of $599, but Apple promises improved performance and features.
The display is one of the main areas where the iPhone 16E outshines the iPhone SE. While both phones feature 60Hz refresh rates, the iPhone 16E has a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, compared to the 4.7-inch LCD of the iPhone SE. The new phone also features Face ID instead of a home button and an Action button.
In terms of camera capabilities, the iPhone 16E trumps its predecessor with a higher-resolution 48-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. The phones both shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second.
However, it’s worth noting that the iPhone 16E still doesn’t support Apple Intelligence, Emergency SOS, or satellite connectivity like its pricier counterparts. Storage options start at 128GB for both phones, but the iPhone 16E offers a larger 512GB option.
Overall, while the iPhone SE is still a solid choice, the iPhone 16E represents an upgrade in terms of display and camera capabilities, making it worth considering for those looking to spend less than $800.
