iPhone 16e’s MagSafe Lack Not Due to Modem

Apple has denied speculation surrounding the iPhone 16e’s lack of MagSafe support, stating that its custom-designed C1 modem is not responsible. This came after some speculated that the modem’s cellular connectivity performance could have been impacted by MagSafe magnets.

A well-known iPhone case maker tested MagSafe cases and confirmed that they do not affect the C1 modem’s performance. As a result, it appears that Apple decided to leave MagSafe charging off the new device due to pricing considerations.

The iPhone 16e features a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, up from a 4.7-inch LCD on its predecessor, and is priced lower than expected to make it more affordable. The device launches on February 28 and pre-orders started today.
