Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 models may be more expensive in the US due to tariffs imposed on products imported from countries where iPhones are assembled, including China and India. Analyst Jeff Pu believes this is likely caused by the US imposing higher tariffs on Chinese imports but not Indian ones.
Currently, Apple pays a 20% tariff on iPhones imported from China, but not from India. However, if the Trump administration’s tariff policies change, prices could increase. Wall Street analysts estimate iPhone 17 models could be $50 to $100 more expensive than their equivalent iPhone 16 models.
Despite potential price hikes, Apple may spin the situation by adjusting storage capacities or other features. The company has maintained a starting price of $999 for its Pro model since the iPhone X in 2017. However, with nothing lasting forever, prices could eventually rise if proven necessary.
