A recent report on an upcoming iPhone model was updated to indicate it’s actually about the iPhone 17 Pro, but a new leak from prolific leaker Majin Bu has shed light on a more interesting aspect. The same leaker claims to have information on the iPhone 17 Air battery.
According to Majin Bu, Apple will release two different iPhone batteries: one for the US market and a smaller one for international territories. The US-market version is wider and designed without a physical SIM card tray, which would maximize internal space and potentially result in longer battery life.
Majin Bu has shared images of what appears to be the iPhone 17 Air battery, with a capacity of around 2,900mAh and a steel case. However, it’s unclear if there will only be one variant or if Apple has other plans for eSIM-only models.
The implications of this development are significant, as some locations may restrict eSIM support. If true, the iPhone 17 Air would become the first phone in its line to release with no physical SIM card tray.
More information on the upcoming iPhone is expected next month.
