iPhone 17 Pro Max to Get Metallens Technology Upgrade

Apple is set to upgrade the front design of its iPhone 17 Pro Max after three years, with the introduction of metalens technology. This cutting-edge material will be used to make the Dynamic Island narrower, a feature that has remained unchanged since its debut in 2022. According to Digital Chat Station, a well-known leaker, Apple aims to shrink the size of the Dynamic Island while also improving the overall design of the phone.

The metalens technology uses nanostructured materials to manipulate light, making it flat and light, which will take up less space. This innovation is expected to be applied not only to the iPhone 17 Pro Max but also to future foldable iPhones and potentially even the iPad Pro. The goal is to eventually put the Face ID system behind the screen, a feature that could take several generations.

Apart from the front design, Apple is rumored to introduce other changes, including sloping edges, a Pixel-style camera bar, aluminum side rails, and a part-aluminum, part-glass back design. The iPhone 17 Pro is also expected to feature a 48MP periscope camera and a 48MP front-facing camera. Additionally, the company may launch its Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge rival, the iPhone 17 Air, which will replace the Plus model in the lineup.

The iPhone 17 series is powered by A19 chips manufactured on TSMC’s upgraded 3nm process, with the iPhone 17 Air potentially flaunting an in-house modem. With these design changes and updates, Apple hopes to revamp its latest phone models and bring excitement back to the market.
