iPhone 17 Rumors Hint at Thinner Design and Higher Refresh Rate

Apple’s next flagship device is expected to arrive in September, with analysts predicting a slimmer design, higher refresh rate, and upgraded cameras. Here are some key features that might be included:

A slimmer iPhone
Analysts Jeff Pu and Ming-Chi Kuo suggest Apple will release a new “Slim” model, replacing the iPhone Plus option. The device is expected to feature a 6.6-inch screen, making it smaller than the iPhone 16 Plus but larger than the baseline model.

The Slim phone might be more expensive than the baseline model but cheaper than the Pro models. A hardware tradeoff might include a single main camera instead of the ultrawide and telephoto lenses found in previous premium iPhones.

On the inside, the iPhone 17 Slim is expected to feature an A18 or A19-branded chip, 8GB of RAM, and potentially an Apple-developed 5G modem. However, battery life might be compromised due to the device’s slimmer design.

Higher refresh rate across the board
All models of the iPhone 17 are rumored to feature a 120Hz display, bumping up the non-Pro models from their current 60Hz refresh rate. This could bring an always-on display to baseline models and provide a smoother experience for users.

Camera upgrades
The selfie camera on all iPhone 17 models is expected to be upgraded to 24 megapixels, according to Pu. A leaked image suggests the phone might feature a pill-shaped camera bar, but its validity is unclear.

Other possible features include an aluminum design for the non-Pro models and a titanium frame for the Pro Max. The Dynamic Island on Pro Max models could also be narrower due to a smaller Face ID sensor.

As more rumors surface, we’ll continue to update this piece to bring you the latest information on Apple’s next flagship device.
