Ippolito to Star as Young Stallone in Amazon MGM’s Rocky Origin Story

Anthony Ippolito, known for his portrayal of Al Pacino in Paramount’s limited series The Offer, is set to star as a young Sylvester Stallone in Amazon MGM’s upcoming drama I Play Rocky. Directed by Peter Farrelly, the film tells the true Hollywood story of how an unknown actor fought to play the iconic role of Rocky Balboa.

The movie follows Stallone’s journey from being told “no” at every turn to betting on himself and holding onto the lead role despite impossible odds. The film celebrates the underdog spirit that defined Rocky, with Ippolito reportedly pursuing the part with a similar relentless drive that earned him the role of Pacino in The Offer.

I Play Rocky boasts an all-star production team, including producers Toby Emmerich and Christian Baha, and scriptwriter Peter Gamble. With the Rocky franchise grossing over $1.7 billion globally, this film promises to be an exciting origin story that explores the making of a Hollywood classic. Ippolito’s latest project follows his recent roles in Netflix’s Purple Hearts and Pixels, as well as his portrayal of Pacino in The Offer.
