IQM Quantum Computers has achieved a major milestone in the development of its superconducting quantum computers. The Finland-based company has demonstrated a record-low error rate for two-qubit operations, with a CZ gate between two qubits achieving 99.91% fidelity. This achievement marks a significant step towards “fault-tolerant” quantum computing and is essential for generating entangled states between qubits.
The high fidelity in two-qubit gates is crucial for executing algorithms and generating entangled states. IQM’s prototype quantum processor has shown remarkable performance, with a qubit relaxation time T1 of 0.964 milliseconds and dephasing time T2 echo of 1.155 milliseconds.
This achievement cements IQM’s tech leadership in the industry, with its quantum processor quality being world-class. The company is actively exploring potential use cases in machine learning, cybersecurity, route optimization, sensor simulation, chemistry, and pharmaceutical research.
