Iran Claims Thousands of Secret Israeli Documents

Iran’s intelligence minister has announced that his country possesses thousands of classified Israeli documents detailing Israel’s nuclear program, foreign relations, and defense capabilities. The claim comes amid rising tensions between the two countries and renewed scrutiny of Iran’s own nuclear activities.

The announcement has sparked concerns about a potential destabilization of diplomatic relations between Israel and its allies, including the US. If the documents are released, it could also undermine US-led negotiations with Tehran on Iran’s nuclear program.

Iranian intelligence minister Esmail Khatib described the documents as a “treasure trove” that would strengthen Iran’s strategic position. However, he did not reveal how his country obtained the documents or if they relate to the 2023 cyberattack on an Israeli nuclear center.

The claim has been met with skepticism by some experts, including Trita Parsi, Executive Vice President of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft. While Parsi acknowledged that Iran and Israel have engaged in an “intelligence war,” he questioned whether the documents Tehran claims to possess are genuine or contain important revelations.

The announcement also comes as tensions between Iran and Israel remain high, with both countries blaming each other for recent hostilities. The US has renewed calls for curbs on uranium enrichment and greater transparency from Iran, but negotiations between Washington and Tehran have stalled.

If published, the Israeli documents could escalate diplomatic tensions and reshape regional dynamics, diverting international scrutiny just as nuclear negotiations reach a fragile stage. The IAEA Board of Governors is expected to censure Iran over its nuclear program later this week, while Iran prepares a counter-proposal after rejecting the US nuclear offer.
