Iran launched multiple missiles at a US military base in Qatar on Monday in response to the US strike on its nuclear facilities over the weekend. Despite the attack, no casualties were reported, and both Qatar and the Trump administration were given advance notice.
President Trump had warned that any retaliation would be met with force greater than what was used during the initial US strike. However, a White House official said that Trump’s goal now is to end the war and make it clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The attack on Al Udeid Air Base reportedly involved 14 Iranian missiles, which were largely intercepted by Qatari air defenses. One missile struck a building near the base, but there was no damage or casualties.
Iranian leaders have vowed not to back down from aggression and claim that their response was aimed at de-escalating tensions. The country’s Supreme Leader Ayotollah Ali Khamenei posted an image of a burning American flag on X after the attack.
