Iran Releases 10-Point Framework for Cease-Fire Talks

Iran has released a 10-point framework for talks that President Trump said was “a workable basis on which to negotiate” an end to the war, but White House officials say it does not match what Mr. Trump referred to. The proposal includes demands such as Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz and its right to nuclear enrichment, which are likely to conflict with U.S. aims.

Iran’s 10-point plan:
1. Guarantee of nonaggression with Iran
2. Control of the Strait of Hormuz
3. End to regional war on all fronts
4. Withdrawal of US combat forces from the region
5. Reparations for war damages
6. Acceptance of nuclear enrichment
7. Lifting primary sanctions on Iran
8. Lifting secondary sanctions on Iran
9. Termination of IAEA resolutions against Iran
10. Termination of UN Security Council resolutions against Iran

These demands are likely to be difficult to reconcile with U.S. aims, and it remains unclear whether Washington will accept them as part of a comprehensive deal with Iran.
