Iran’s Nuclear Progress “Extremely Serious”, Diplomacy at Risk

Iran has accelerated its uranium enrichment to nearly bomb-grade levels, raising concerns among Western diplomats. According to a UN nuclear watchdog chief, Iran is now producing 60% pure uranium, just shy of the 90% level needed for a nuclear weapon. This development has sparked warnings that it could fuel a military nuclear program if pursued.

Iran has repeatedly denied seeking nuclear weapons, but its actions contradict this claim. The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed that Iran’s enrichment process is speeding up, with no clear civilian justification for the accelerated production. Western diplomats see this as a threat to diplomacy and urge Iran to return to credible negotiations on its nuclear program.
