Israel Arms Gaza Militias Fighting Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that Israel is arming militias in southern Gaza that oppose Hamas. The move comes after Israeli politician Avigdor Lieberman revealed it to the press earlier this week.

Netanyahu defended the arrangement, stating that it helps save lives and targets only those who pose a security threat. However, his decision has faced criticism from both within Israel and the international community.

Meanwhile, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has temporarily suspended aid distribution in Gaza due to the high risk of violence. The organization has warned that Palestinians are on the brink of extreme starvation and famine.

In recent days, thousands of Palestinians have flocked to food distribution centers in southern Gaza after the blockade was partially lifted. The International Committee of the Red Cross has reported five mass casualty incidents, including four in the last 96 hours.

The Israeli government’s blockade on humanitarian aid is ongoing, with the aim of pressuring Hamas to release hostages being held in Gaza.
