Israel Considers Sanctions Against Palestinian Leaders

Israel is considering imposing sanctions on top Palestinian Authority officials after several countries recognized a Palestinian state at the United Nations General Assembly. The recommendations include limiting the movement of PA leaders, including President Mahmoud Abbas and Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh, in the West Bank and at the Allenby Crossing. This could force the PA leadership to stay in Ramallah or restrict their travel. Financial sanctions are also being considered, which would target their sources of income from imports and other relatives. The move comes as a response to the UN recognition, which has raised concerns among Israeli security officials.
