The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has made significant discoveries of Hezbollah weaponry and military equipment in southern Lebanon over the past couple of days. The 769th “Hiram” Brigade uncovered rocket launchers, mortar shells, rocket-propelled grenades, missiles, and explosives in a depot containing dozens of shoulder-launched missiles.
Similarly, the 300th Brigade found five Hezbollah weapons facilities with over 200 mortar shells, ready-to-fire rocket launchers, and personal body armor. The soldiers also discovered a truck with Hezbollah insignia carrying three medium-range rocket launchers. All the seized materials were destroyed under Israeli military regulations.
The IDF emphasized that its efforts to dismantle terrorist infrastructure are allowed under the current Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire agreement. However, there is growing optimism that Lebanon will soon begin disarming Hezbollah following the election of new President Joseph Aoun. Aoun’s victory has garnered praise from the White House and Israel’s foreign minister, who expressed hope for more stable futures in both countries.
Lebanon’s economic collapse continues to pose a significant challenge as it seeks to rebuild its economy amidst ongoing tensions with neighboring countries.
