Israel Escalates Gaza Operations Amid Trump-Driven Ceasefire Push

Israel has ordered Palestinians to evacuate from parts of northern Gaza ahead of increased military action, amid US President Donald Trump’s push for a ceasefire deal. The Israeli military claims it is targeting “terrorists and terrorist infrastructure” in the region.

At least 86 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Sunday, with three children among those killed. The Hamas-run health ministry said at least 23 people died on Sunday alone.

The US has reiterated calls for a ceasefire, with Trump saying he wants to “make the deal in Gaza” and “get the hostages back”. Trump had previously said he was hopeful a ceasefire could be agreed within the next week.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed the increased pressure, saying it could lead to a breakthrough in negotiations. However, Hamas officials have denied any progress, stating that talks with Israel remain stalled.

The US and Israel have established a joint aid group, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which critics say is not effective in providing humanitarian assistance due to repeated incidents of killings and injuries of Palestinians seeking aid.
