Israel Exploring Resettlement Options for Gaza Refugees

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says discussions are underway with several countries to resettle Palestinians displaced by the war in Gaza. The involved countries include South Sudan, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Libya, and Indonesia, which are seeking significant financial compensation in exchange for taking in some of Gaza’s population. However, international leaders have expressed skepticism about these plans, citing concerns over their legality and potential impact on regional stability.

Netanyahu has repeatedly advocated for resettling displaced Palestinians in other countries, including a plan to allow them to “leave” Gaza rather than being pushed out. This proposal has been met with sharp criticism from Arab states, which condemn the use of the term “Greater Israel,” a concept that refers to a state beyond current borders.

As international alarm grows over Israel’s planned takeover of Gaza City, humanitarian organizations are calling for an end to the “weaponization of aid” in the territory. The densely populated city has been hit by Israeli strikes, resulting in at least 123 deaths in the last 24 hours.
