Israel Intensifies Gaza Attack Amid Global Demand for Aid

Gaza City is under intense air attack, with residents reporting “massive destruction” and widespread casualties. The Hamas-run civil defense agency has confirmed that residential areas in Zeitoun and Sabra have been hit for three days, leaving many dead and injured.

The UK, EU, Australia, Canada, and Japan have issued a joint statement calling on Israel to reverse the starvation unfolding in Gaza, with “famine” declared an immediate concern. The international community demands “immediate, permanent, and concrete steps” to facilitate aid entry into Gaza.

Israel denies there is famine in Gaza, accusing UN agencies of not picking up aid at borders and delivering it quickly enough. The World Health Organization has appealed for medical supplies, warning of a “catastrophic” health situation.

The Israeli government has voted to take control of Gaza City, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) saying they are “at the beginning of a new state of combat.” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined a three-step plan to increase aid in Gaza, including safe corridors for distribution and air drops by Israeli forces.

Residents describe unrelenting attacks from the air, with many unable to reach their loved ones due to ongoing shelling. The Hamas-run health ministry has reported 100 dead over the past 24 hours, including 31 at aid sites.

Global leaders, including former UN officials, have condemned Israel’s actions, labeling the situation an “unfolding genocide” and blaming Israel for causing famine in Gaza.
