Israel Intercepts Yemeni Houthis’ Missile Attack

Israel’s military intercepted two missiles launched from Yemen on Thursday, with sirens sounding in several areas, including Jerusalem. The Houthis, backed by Iran, claimed to have fired a hypersonic missile towards Ben Gurion airport and an unspecified target in Tel Aviv.

The group also targeted warships in the Red Sea, including the US aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman. One of Italy’s flights was diverted due to the missiles, landing safely in Tel Aviv.

The Houthis are part of Iran’s “Axis of Resistance,” a network of anti-Israel and anti-Western militias that include Hamas and Hezbollah. The region has been plagued by conflict since 2015, with Saudi-led bombing campaigns aiming to oust the Houthi forces from Yemen.

The US has been striking Houthi strongholds in Yemen since March 15, with President Donald Trump vowing to hold Iran responsible for any attacks carried out by the group.
