Israel Launches Heavy Assault on Gaza City, Kills Hundreds

Israel has intensified its attack on Gaza City, targeting emergency workers and civilians trying to reach those trapped in the residential Zeitoun neighborhood. The military has been deploying heavy artillery, drones, and fighter jets, leading to “relentless bombardment” in four neighborhoods of the city.

The Israeli government’s goal is to seize Gaza’s largest urban hub and forcibly displace hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to concentration zones. Despite criticism from around the world, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to push for this policy.

The attacks have resulted in the deaths of 44 people, including 16 aid seekers seeking food for their families. Two hospitals, al-Shifa and Al-Aqsa, have been targeted, leaving daily pleas that no place in Gaza is safe. Residents are facing extreme hunger, with temperatures soaring above 40C (104F), leading to severe dehydration and contaminated water.

The United Nations human rights office reports at least 1,760 Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid in Gaza since late May, mostly by the Israeli military. The starvation death toll has reached 240, including 107 children. International organizations say only one-sixth of the necessary 600 trucks of aid are actually entering Gaza daily.

As the situation continues to deteriorate, civilians are struggling with extreme hunger and dehydration. Many are resorting to drinking contaminated water, which causes stomach cramps for adults and children.
