Israel Launches Targeted Ops in Southern Lebanon Amid Near-Daily Attacks

Israel has carried out “special, targeted operations” in southern Lebanon to dismantle Hezbollah facilities and prevent the group from re-establishing itself in the area. The military said it acted on intelligence information and identified Hezbollah weapons and terrorist infrastructure in several areas of southern Lebanon.

Troops from the 9th Brigade were seen walking on the ground in the Labbouneh area, while troops from the 300th Brigade operated in the Jabal Blat area further west. The operation was launched amid near-daily attacks against Lebanon by Israel, which has continued to carry out strikes across the country since agreeing to a ceasefire with Hezbollah in November 2024.

The military’s actions come as Hezbollah remains open to peace but will not disarm or back down from confronting Israel until it ends its air raids and withdraws from southern Lebanon. The group’s leader, Naim Qassem, said Israel’s aggression continues, making it impossible for him to soften his stance.

Under the ceasefire deal, Hezbollah was required to pull its fighters back north of the Litani River, but has instead kept a presence in southern Lebanon. Israel has maintained troops in five locations deemed strategic to its interests, despite being required to fully withdraw from the country.
