Israel Shoots Down Missile from Yemen Amid Ongoing Conflict

Israel’s air defense system successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Thursday, according to the Israeli military. The incident occurred just hours after the Houthis claimed to have fired a ballistic missile at Israel’s international airport.

The missile was detected by Israel’s multilayered air defense system, which includes several advanced interceptors designed to counter different types of threats. These systems include the Arrow, developed with US support, and Iron Dome, also backed by the US, which has intercepted thousands of short-range rockets since its activation in 2010.

The Israeli military says its system is effective, preventing serious damage and countless casualties. However, the system’s accuracy is not guaranteed, as acknowledged by Israeli leaders. Despite this, the country remains confident in its ability to protect itself from attacks.

In recent years, Israel has developed a new air defense system using laser technology, known as Iron Beam, which aims to reduce costs compared to existing systems. The system is still under development and has not yet been operational.
