Israel Slams UN Criticism Over Gaza War, Vows to Rescue Hostages

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon has criticized international leaders for their criticism of Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Danon said that Israel values international law but will not stop fighting until all hostages are released.

The US ally expressed frustration at the lack of pressure on Hamas over the hostages, urging countries like the UK, France, and Canada to make stronger statements on their behalf. Danon took issue with remarks made by Tom Fletcher, the UN’s undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs, who accused Israel of committing genocide during his speech before the UN Security Council.

Danon called Fletcher’s words “unacceptable and shameful” and said that he expects him to take back those comments and apologize. The Israeli ambassador also criticized the UN’s role in the region, saying that it is “rotten, anti-Israel, and anti-Semitic.”

In response to concerns about humanitarian aid in Gaza, Danon stressed that aid was only granted to NGOs that ensure Hamas does not infiltrate their ranks or loot aid intended for civilians. He expressed support for US-backed initiatives to replace UNRWA with a new aid mechanism.

Danon emphasized Israel’s determination to bring home all hostages and vowed to defeat the terror group Hamas. His comments came after the joint statement issued by leaders of the UK, France, Canada condemned Israel’s military operations in Gaza, criticizing the humanitarian situation and calling for an immediate ceasefire.
