Israel launched missile strikes on a major hospital in Gaza, but no casualties were reported despite the attack causing significant damage to the facility’s emergency department and surrounding structures.
The Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, run by the Anglican Church in Jerusalem, was evacuated with hundreds of patients and injured people due to a phone call from someone claiming to be an Israeli security official before the strike. The hospital is now no longer operational, putting the lives of its patients at risk.
Gaza’s health ministry described the scene as “scary” after the attack, which damaged a two-storey genetic laboratory, pharmacy, and emergency department buildings. The Episcopal Church in Jerusalem called for international intervention to stop attacks on medical facilities.
Hamas leaders have been in talks with Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to revive a stalled ceasefire agreement, while Israel says it is targeting Hamas fighters exploiting civilian structures, including hospitals.
In separate strikes, at least 30 Palestinians were killed, including a police head and brothers. The Israeli military also located and destroyed an underground tunnel used by militants in northern Gaza.
The conflict has resulted in over 50,900 Palestinian deaths since October 2023, with much of Gaza in ruins and its population displaced.
