Israel Strikes Gaza, Kills At Least 85, Amid International Pressure and Aid Delays

Israel launched airstrikes in Gaza on Tuesday, killing at least 85 Palestinians. The strikes come as international pressure mounts on Israel to allow more aid into the Palestinian territory, which has been under an Israeli blockade for nearly three months.

The United Nations warned that many of Gaza’s 2 million residents are at high risk of famine due to the blockade and the ongoing conflict. Despite a recent surge in aid deliveries, much of it remains undistributed due to complex security procedures imposed by Israel.

Aid workers report being forced to reload supplies onto separate trucks, which hinders efforts to distribute food, medicine, and other essential items to those in need. The UN humanitarian agency prioritized baby formula in the initial shipments but noted that none of the aid has actually reached Palestinians.

Criticism of Israel’s conduct in Gaza is growing both domestically and internationally. A retired general and opposition party leader warned that Israel was becoming an “outcast among nations” due to its treatment of civilians, while a UK official accused the country of “horrific” actions.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended his government’s actions, calling criticism “wild incitement.” However, the international community remains divided over how to respond to the crisis in Gaza.
