Israel launched airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport in Yemen’s capital, targeting the central airport and an aircraft belonging to the Houthi terrorist organization. The attack came after the group, backed by Iran, had been launching drones and missiles towards Israel since a surprise attack on October 7, 2023.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of further retaliation against the Houthis, saying “Whoever harms us, we harm them.” He also stated that while the Houthis are the symptom, it’s Iran that is responsible for the aggression in Yemen.
The IDF said the airstrikes aimed to target the Houthi regime’s terrorist activities. However, Yemenia Airlines condemned the strike, suspending flights from Sana’a International Airport until further notice, citing a “cowardly terrorist act” against one of its planes.
This incident comes after last month’s agreement between the Houthis and the US, which included an end to attacks on American commercial shipping in exchange for an end to intense US airstrikes. The Houthis have since vowed to continue their attacks on Israel despite the agreement.
