Israel Strikes Yemeni Ports, Threatens Houthi Leader

Israel launched a series of strikes on Yemen’s Red Sea ports of Hodeidah and Salif, killing at least one person and injuring nine. The attacks are part of Israel’s campaign to degrade Houthi military capabilities.

The Houthis have fired missiles at Israel in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, but agreed to halt attacks on US ships. Israel has retaliated with strikes, including one that damaged Yemen’s main airport in Sanaa last month.

The Israeli military warned residents of the affected areas to evacuate, citing concerns over the transfer of weapons. The country’s Prime Minister and Defence Minister threatened to target Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi if attacks on Israel persist.

The Houthis have rejected these threats as “illusions” aimed at buying time by setting unattainable goals. However, the Israeli strikes demonstrate a significant escalation in the conflict between Israel and the Houthi group.
